The
Sequence of Endtime Events
Equipping
God's Saints (Followers of Christ) through the prophecies of the
End Times …
Let's
start with the 7th Trumpet. We have already dealt with
this Trumpet. Let's review the highlights.
The
7th Trumpet is the last trumpet to sound. In Revelation
11:15-19 we see there are:
- Great voices in heaven
- Thy wrath is come
- Lightnings, voices, thunderings
- Earthquakes
- Great hail
This
passage is very clear and direct that the time of Thy Wrath is come.
Next
is Zephaniah 1:14-16, which says:
“The
great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even
the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there
bitterly.
That
day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of
wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of
clouds and thick darkness,
A
day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against
the high towers.”
We
are seeing the great day of the Lord. This term is so important. This
is the Lord's day. During the trial in Pilate's judgement hall, Jesus
told him, “This is your hour and the hour of the power of darkness,
but hereafter, my day is coming.”
In
this passage, we are there now. Jesus said, “I am going to come.
And when I come, the tribes of this earth are going to mourn because
right now Satan is the god of this age. He's the god of this world.
But the day of the Lord is coming when everybody else moves over and
it's My turn, now. I am going to straighten things out after all of
this chaos; after all of this war; all of this sin; all of these
problems.” When the day of the Lord comes, it's the day when we all
transition from the kingdom of Satan to the Kingdom of God.
In
this passage of Zephaniah 1:14-16 we are seeing some terms that we
are familiar with at this point:
- Great day of the LORD
- Day of wrath
- Day of darkness
- During God's Wrath, we know that the Sun will be darkened, the Moon will not give her light, and the Stars shall fall from heaven
- Day of the trumpet
- It's the day of the 7th Trumpet
Our
next scripture is Joel 2:10-11, 31
“The
earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and
the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining:
And
the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very
great: for his is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the
LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?
…..
The
sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before
the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.”
In
this passage of Joel 2:10-11, 31 we see:
- Earth quake, heavens tremble
- Sun and moon shall be dark
- Stars withdraw shining
- LORD utters His voice
- Day of the LORD
- Moon into blood
This
is all consistant with the other scriptures.
Our
next scripture is 2 Peter 3:10, which says:
“But
the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which
the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements
shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are
therein shall be burned up.”
This
is a new element, here, and you need to focus on this. Here it says
the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night. Many people
really get confused on this point because they try talking about the
coming of Jesus as a thief ~ as a time seperate and apart from the
day of the Lord. It's obvious from this scripture that it is one in
the same thing.
In
this passage of 2 Peter 3:10 we see:
- Day of the Lord
- Thief in the night
- Heavens pass away with noise
Our
next scripture is 1 Thessalonians 5:2 which says:
“For
yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a
thief in the night”
As
we read these scriptures, we may wonder how, if the day of the Lord
is at the Battle of Armageddon, we are going to see these things
coming. How could it be as a thief in the night?
1
Thessalonians 5 really clears that up because the Apostle Paul says,
“You know, brethren, the day of the Lord comes as a thief in the
night, however, you are not children of the night that that day
should overtake you unawares. You are children of the day.”
We
learn from this that the day of the Lord only comes as a thief to
those who live in darkness. Those of us who are watching and
understand the scriptures will be prepared and will see.
Our
next scripture is Matthew 24:42-43. This is just after Jesus's
explanation of the day of wrath and continues on to say:
“Watch
therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
But
know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch
the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have
suffered his house to be broken up.”
The
goodman in this passage was in darkness. But it is given for us to
know. We have been given the prophecies of the Bible. This scripture
either applies to us … or not ... depending on whether we are
watching … or not.
We
are now seeing a coalition between the Coming as a thief and the
Coming of the Lord. There is so much confusion between these two
terms and by cross referencing them here, we are able to establish
that we are talking about one in the same event.
Our
next scripture is 1 Corinthians 1:6-8 which says:
“Even
as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:
So
that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord
Jesus Christ:
Who
shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the
day of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
In
this passage of 1 Corinthians 1:6-8, Paul uses the terms
interchangeably:
- Coming of our Lord
- Day of our Lord
Coming
up, we will look at 2 more passages. We will then establish a chart
that will solidify all 9 scriptures. We are going to find out that it
is all very consistant ~ that the terms are interchangeable and that
they are used the same way in all these scriptures ~ Old Testament
and New Testament. We will then be able to understand what the Lord
intended us to understand when He used these terms.
