Part III ~ Lesson 8 of 8 – The Great Tribulation

The Sequence of Endtime Events

Equipping God's Saints (Followers of Christ) through the prophecies of the End Times …

Now we want to deal with “Why did we place the 6th Trumpet before the 5th Seal?” In other words, “How do we know, for certain, the 6th Trumpet will happen before the Abomination of Desolation?” This is something we found throughout the course of our study that we found very interesting.

We are going to look at the sequence in which the Trumpets are recorded. You will remember that it was mentioned in earlier lessons that the order of the whole Book of Revelation is not chronological. However, there are sections within Revelation which are written chronological. The 7 Trumpets are in chronological order ~ the 7 Seals are in chronological order ~ the 7 Vials are in chronological order. Let's look at the 7 Trumpets as found in the Book of Revelation:
1st Trumpet 8:7
2nd Trumpet 8:8-9
3rd Trumpet 8:10-11
4th Trumpet 8:12
5th Trumpet 9:1-11
6th Trumpet 9:13-17
7th Trumpet 11:15-19

Looking at this list, it brings wonder as to what is happening between the 6th Trumpet and the 7th Trumpet ~ Chapter 9 to Chapter 11. Here is what we find:

6th Trumpet 9:13-17
“The Seven Thunders” 10:1-4
Angel on Waters 10:5-7
A of D
  • “Measure The Temple” 11:1-2
  • Two Witnesses 11:3-13
  • 7th Trumpet 11:15-19

We do not have details on “The Seven Thunders” because John was told not to write about it. We know the Angel on Waters happens at the Abomination of Desolation. This is what launches the final 3 ½ years. This proves the Abomination of Desolation must occur between the 6th Trumpet and 7 Trumpet. That means World War III that kills 1/3 of mankind must happen before the Abomination of Desolation. We don't know for certain that World War III will happen before the Confirmation of the Covenant, but we do know for sure that it happens before the Great Tribulation begins.

The beginning of Chapter 11 tells John to Measure the Temple. This makes sense because, in order for there to be an Abomination of Desolation, there must be a Temple in existence to be measured.

People have disputed whether there is going to be a Temple built. They say God is not ever going to acknowledge another Temple. We do know that the Bible says that God does not dwell in Temples made with hands, however, at the same time, we also know that it says in Revelation 11 that the outer court of this Temple will be trodden down by the Gentiles for 42 months, which is the same time period. We are not talking about something spiritual. We are talking about something that is going to be on earth during the time of the Great Tribulation. It is very important to realize this is an earthly Temple and it's where the Abomination of Desolation will occur.

The next passage is the ministry of the Two Witnesses. We know that that ministry will last for 3 ½ years. Power is given to the Two Witnesses for 1,260 days. It begins at the Abomination of Desolation and ends at the Great Tribulation.

As we trace through from the 6th Trumpet to the 7th Trumpet, we see that we are in total, consistent sequence. When the Two Witnesses finish their ministry, the 7th Trumpet begins to blow. At the end of the 1,260 days, the 7th Trumpet begins to blow, which means it blows at the end of the Great Tribulation. That is when the Wrath of God begins.

To be clear … The Wrath of Satan is the Great Tribulation period. The Wrath of God follows the Wrath of Satan.

Coming next, we are going to look at the dramatic events called the Wrath of God. There is a lot in the Bible about it and it shows how this whole thing is going to come together and how God is going to finish the time of human government and execute judgement upon this earth. It will all culminate together, end the reign of Satan on this earth and bring in the Kingdom of God. We will crown Jesus Christ King of Kings and Lord of Lords. What a day that is going to be!!
