Part 4 of 6 – Israel ~ God's Prophetic Timeclock

Equipping God's Saints (Followers of Christ) through the Prophecies of the End Times …

In this segment, we will explain the prophecy that will trigger the final 7 years to Armageddon. We will also describe the events that will occur during the final 7 years. This prophecy is absolutely one of the greatest prophecies of all time. It did several things:
  • Foretold when the Messiah will come to earth the first time
  • Proved the identity of the Messiah
  • Foretold the crucifixion
  • Foretold Jerusalem's destruction
  • Prophesies the event that will trigger the final 7 years of Armageddon
  • Provides clues to the identity of the Antichrist
  • Establishes the 7 year time line of end-of-the-age events

The stage is set for the final 7 years to Armageddon in our world right now. The only question is, “How soon will the final 7 years begin?”

God's prophetic time clock ~ The Bible prophecies that the world community and the Antichrist will make a peace agreement with Israel. The agreement will place the Temple Mount under a sharing arrangement and will allow for the building of Israel's Third Temple. There's been two Temples up to now. This will allow for the building of the Third Temple on the Temple Mount in the very near future.

This peace agreement will mark the beginning of the final 7 years to the Battle of Armageddon. If there is another peace agreement that doesn't do these things, then that's not the one that marks the beginning of the final 7 years.

The Antichrist will participate in this very important agreement, even though we will probably not know who he is even while he is participating in the conclusion of this peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians.

Let's look now at the prophecy, itself. It'a a 490 year prophecy. It's given to us in Daniel 9:24-27. Daniel 9:24 says,
“Seventy sevens are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy...”

Seventy 'sevens' refer to seventy, seven-year periods of time. I won't take the time to prove that right now, but it can be proven conclusively. This is talking about 70 seven-year periods of time, or 70 x 7 – 490 years. This is a 490 year prophecy.

The 490 years begins with the commandment to rebuild Jerusalem. We know Jerusalem was destroyed in 586 BC. The prophesy was given after that while Daniel was down in Babylonian captivity. So the propecy is given; Jerusalem has already been destroyed; This prophecy begins with the commandment to rebuild Jerusalem. We know that because Daniel 9:25 says:
“Know and understand this: From the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One [the Messiah], this ruler, comes, there will be seven sevens, and sixty-two sevens. It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble.”

This prophecy is given in three segments, 7 sevens (49 years), and then 62 sevens (434 years), and then 1 seven (7 years) for a total of 490 years.

The prophecy begins with the decree to rebuild Jerusalem. Most likely this decree refers to the prophesied decree of Cyrus, the king of Persia, which occurred around 538 BC, if our dates are accurate. The history and the calendars that we have for this time period are very unreliable. When this 490 year time period begins is not really what is important. What is important is when it will end because that's when some very critical things take place that we all need to understand and know about.

The 49 years and the 434 years end with the cutting off of the Messiah because it tells us this in Daniel 9:26:
“After the sixty-two sevens, the Anointed One will be cut off and will have nothing. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed.”

This tells us that the people of the ruler that shall come, speaking of the Antichrist, shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. Did that happen? Absolutely. In 70 AD, the Romans came and destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple ~ burnt it to the ground.

This passage tells us that the Messiah will come, then be cut off and then the city of Jerusalem will be destroyed. This is absolute proof that the Messiah had to come before 70 AD. He was cut off, just like the scripture says and then, the city of Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans. The Antichrist, when he comes, will rule over a revived Holy Roman Empire.

This brings us to a very important understanding now and that's the understanding of the gap.

Two things were to happen after the 483 years:
  1. The Messiah was to be cut off
  2. Jerusalem and the Temple

We know that Jerusalem and the Temple were destroyed in 70 AD. and Jesus was crucified between 26-38 AD. We don't know for sure the date. What we learn is that there are between 30 and 40 years between these two events and both of them are to occur between the 483 years and the final 7 years. Things happen in this gap and that's the reason the prophecy was given in segments like this. The length of the gap, though, is not disclosed to us in the prophecy. We do know today, however, that the gap is about 2000 years. We'll understand more about that as we go along.

Now, let's jump over the gap and let's get to the final 7 years.
