Part 1 of 6 – The Antichrist and The False Prophet

Equipping God's Saints (Followers of Christ) through the Prophecies of the End Times …

Previously, we learned that the Holy Roman Empire has now been reborn. We also learned that the Holy Roman Empire has always been ruled by two leaders, a Political Leader and a Religious Leader.

The Bible foretells that the endtime Holy Roman Empire will once again be ruled by a Political Leader and a Religious Leader. The Political Leader will be a man called the Antichrist. The Religious Leader will be the False Prophet.

Let's consider the Antichrist first. I'm talking about the coming one world dictator who is, without a doubt, on this earth right now waiting in the wings to be revealed.

The Antichrist is called by many names in scripture. He is called the “Man of Sin”. He is also called the “Son of Perdition”. 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 says:

“Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come [speaking of the day of the Second Coming of Christ], except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped, so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.”

He is called by many other names. 2 Thessalonians 2:8 states:

“And then shall that Wicked be revealed whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:”

In this passage and in a few other passages, the Antichrist is referred to as “That Wicked”.

The Antichrist is also known as the “Little Horn”. In Daniel 7:8, it says:

“I considered the horns, and behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots, and behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.”

Now the passage goes on to say in Daniel 7:21 that the little horn will make war against the saints until the Ancient of days comes. That's the way we know for positive that this little horn is the Antichrist. That's exactly what the Bible says in many other passages. That the Antichrist is going to do.

In Revelation 13:4-5, the Antichrist is referred to as the “Beast”. It says:

“And they worshiped the dragon which gave power unto the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? Who is able to make war with him? And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.”

We studied previously that a beast in Bible prophecy always represents a Kingdom or Nation along with the ruler of that Kingdom or Nation. This is really important to remember because sometimes when we say “The Beast”, we're speaking about the world government of the endtime, and other times when we say “The Beast”, we are speaking about the ruler of that world government of the endtime, the Antichrist, himself.

But the name that we most commonly call this endtime world dictator is the “Antichrist”. In the present day, we most commonly refer to him, and most people are aware of this coming ruler, by the name, the Antichrist. In 1 John 2:18, John says:

“Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist [singular] shall come, even now are there many antichrists [plural], whereby we know that it is the last time.”

Many people have said that the term “Antichrist” is not in the Bible, but that's not true, because you see the evidence right here. John understood that there was an individual ruler, Antichrist, and then he went on to say that there are many antichrists [plural]. He said that because there were many people in that time that had the spirit of the Antichrist, that were claiming to be the Christ. That's one of the things the Antichrist will do.

So John said there are many antichrists in the world, but there is a singular ruler, an Antichrist, that is to come. The name “Antichrist” means against Christ or in the place of Christ.

Where will the Antichrist come from? A lot of people are wondering that right now. Is he going to come from Islamic country? Will he come from Europe? Could he even be from America?
