Equipping
God's Saints (Followers of Christ) through the Prophecies of the
End Times …
We
are talking about what the Second Coming of Jesus Christ is really
going to be like. Revelation 1:1 says:
“The
Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his
servants things which must shortly come to pass...”
The
word that was translated “Revelation” is the word “Apokalupsis”,
which means to reveal. This is really the revealing of Jesus Christ
to the world. The entire Book of Revelation, 22 chapters, is devoted
to dramatizing and telling the story of how the Second Coming is
going to happen. This is the crowning moment of all human history.
This is when Jesus Christ comes to this earth to put down the thrones
of men and to establish the long-promised kingdom of God.
The
Book of Revelation tells several accounts of His Second Coming from
different angles. We're going to look at some of those accounts
because it's so interesting to see what God wanted you and me to
know. He devoted 22 chapters just to tell us over and over again
about the marvelous revealing of Jesus Christ at His Second Coming to
this earth.
One
account we want to look at is found in Revelation 6:12-13. This is
the Sixth Seal account of the Second Coming. It says:
“And
I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a
great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and
the moon became as blood;
And
the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth
her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.”
There
are 7 Seals. We are looking at the 6th Seal. It's giving
the account of what's going to happen when He comes. Remember this
because we are going to read it in other accounts:
- Great earthquake
- Sun becomes black
- Moon became as blood
- Stars of heaven fell
It
goes on to say in Revelation 6:14-16:
“And
the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every
mountain and island were moved out of their places.
And
the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the
chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free
man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
And
said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the
face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the
Lamb:”
This
is going to be a wonderful time when His people are caught up to meet
Him in the air. But the Bible teaches it's also going to be a time
when people who lived in rebellion and did not give their lives to
Jesus Christ and did not believe the gospel, will suffer the wrath of
the Lamb [Jesus Christ is the Lamb] against the disobedient.
Sometimes
we emphasize the mercy and the love of Jesus Christ so much that we
forget to preach this part of the Bible. For those who reject Him,
ultimately will receive of the wrath of God, which we don't want
anyone to do.
It
goes on to say in Revelation 6:17:
“For
the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?”
Imagine
it... People running to rocks; running to mountains saying,
“Fall
on us, hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, for
the great day of his wrath has come.”
The
Book of Revelation tells several accounts of Jesus Christ's Second
Coming from different angles.
There
are 7 Trumpets, 7 Seals and 7 Vials. In the 7th Trumpet
account of the Second Coming, Revelation 11:15 says:
“And
the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven,
saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our
Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.”
This
is a marvelous thing. It is the transition from human government, the
kingdoms of this world, to the promised kingdoms of God. The kingdoms
of this world will become the kingdoms of our Lord and His Christ and
He's going to reign from that point in time, for ever and ever.
He
goes on to tell us in Revelation 11:16-17:
“And
the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell
upon their faces, and worshiped God,
Saying,
We give thee thanks, O LORD God almighty, which art, and wast, and
art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and
hast reigned.”
This
is going to be an incredible event. It's the transition of the
kingdom of men, which has been ruling the world since the beginning
of humanity, into the promised kingdom of God. This event is also
referred to in Daniel 7:9:
“I
beheld till the thrones were cast down [Daniel saw the casting down
of the thrones of human government], and the Ancient of days did sit,
whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the
pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as
burning fire.”
You
are reading the prophecies of this soon-coming event that is bringing
into realization a prayer that many of us have prayed:
“Thy
kingdom come, thy will be done on earth”
Finally,
in Revelation 11:18, it says:
“And
the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the
dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward
unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear
thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy
the earth.”
What
happens is the nations get angry. That causes them to invade Israel
at Armageddon. This takes place at the Battle of Armageddon. The
nations were angry and they tried to invade Israel to destroy her.
That makes God angry because of their rebellion.
Not
only is it a time of wrath, but also notice in Revelation 11:18 it
says:
“...And
this is the time that the prophets and the saints are given their
rewards. Thou shalt give rewards unto thy servants, the prophets...”
Revelation
11:19 goes on to say:
“And
the temple of God was opened in heaven [we'll see this several
times], and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament:
and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an
earthquake, and great hail.”
Remember
that from back in the Sixth Seal? The same thing: lightnings, voices,
thunderings, earthquake, great hail.
We
will continue studying the different accounts in the Book of
Revelation about the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. As we continue
through this study about the Second Coming, I'd like to ask you to
think about your position with Jesus Christ right now. Let's say
you're one of those out in the field with a friend and the Second
Coming happens and your friend goes and you're left behind. You don't
want to be there.
One
of the reasons I'm doing this lesson today is I want to make sure
that no one who is reading this misses the rapture. I don't want you,
if you're a woman working with a friend of yours, for you to be left.
I also don't want your friend to be left.
That
is what this message is devoted to. All the prophecies point to the
soon Second Coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It's not a
matter of IF it will happen ~ it is GOING TO happen. The only
question is WHEN and WILL YOU BE READY?
Jesus
said it this way in Matthew 24:44:
“Therefore
be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man
cometh.”
I
want you to be ready.
