Part 2 – World War III

Equipping God's Saints (Believers of Christ) through the prophecies of the End Times …

In our previous lesson we put into prospective the fact that it is definite, World War III which will kill 1/3 of the earth's population – 2.2 billion people – is prophesied in the Bible and we discussed Who will probably be involved and that it will more than likely be a nuclear war. The next question is, “When will World War III happen?”

Scripture tells us it will happen sometime before the Great Tribulation, which begins 3 ½ years before the battle of Armageddon and the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

Taking a little side trip, some of you may be interested in this... Let's look at that a lot of people think the Great Tribulation is 7 years before the battle of Armageddon, but that's a mistake in notion. Scripture explicitely tells us that the Great Tribulation will last 3 ½ years.

Daniel 7:25 states “...Time, times and half a time.”

Time = One Year

Times = Two Years

Half a Time = Half a Year

How do we know this? Because another prophecy states the exact same thing only states the time in a different way.

Revelation 13:5 says about the Antichrist, “...and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.” And he makes wars against the Saints and prevails against them.

And then in Revelation 12:6 it says the dragon makes war against the woman (Israel) for 1,260 days

Even Jesus in Matthew 24 said,

“When you see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the Prophet,... then let those who be in Judea flee...for then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.”

So Jesus said the Great Tribulation will begin at the Abomination of Desolation and Daniel taught in Daniel 9:27 that the Abomination of Desolation happens half way through that final 7 year period. Each time we see a time period put on the Great Tribulation, it is 3 ½ years. There is a 7 year period, but the first half of that 7 years is not tribulation at all. It is the build up to the final 3 ½ years called the Great Tribulation.
